Kathy My Thi is an artist who creates impressionism, semi -abstract, textured mixed mediums to create dreamlike world of tranquil nature. In much of the gray areas of human expressions, she portrays simplicity and subtle colors to show the dream state of interconnection. Artwork that presents quick short brushstrokes and soft melodic movements. Other branches of visual arts Kathy works within are jewelry sculptures and traditional figurative paintings.

Innovating The Art

Kathy’s work reflects innovation in the art world through the creation of her distinctive art form, Silk Oil Threading. This technique uses oil paint to create delicate, silky textures that resemble the softness, luminous, and movement of silk fabric. The development of Silk Oil Threading is influenced by her Vietnamese roots and cultural heritage, drawing inspiration from the elegance of silk, a material closely associated with traditional Vietnamese attire.

Her plein air landscape paintings are inspired from the natural landscapes of California, along the coast, green valleys, and rose bush flower gardens, capturing moments of serenity, movement, and atmosphere. She mostly develops her work from her indoor studio based in Orange County, where she continues to blend texture and light into her artistic process.
