Artist Work In The Studio:
Kathy My Thi (t-ee) is a self taught artist who dived into visual art using mixed media to paint from representative forms to the blend of semi-abstract expressionism. Kathy has created an art form called the Silk Oil Threading technique inspired by her cultural heritage embrace of Vietnamese roots as an Asian American. Using oil paint as a medium, Kathy innovated art culture to create silk-like texture bring new styles of creative work.
Kathy's self study began when she to moved away from traditional way of life and to live away from societal expectations and more into nature and introspection. Her time in solitary tranquility in nature has allowed her to open her eyes to color, light, and shadow.
"As an artist, I enjoy expressing painting the world I live in. To inspire that joy and simplicity can still be experienced as an adult of imagination."
Living in two worlds of realism and abstract, Kathy paints the way she feels from inspiration where the ebbs and flow of physical world meshes like a melody. She finds art to be a spiritual experience, the dance with the beauty of coming into oneness with everything around her. She spends her time in nature and flower gardens to observe and this is a way that opens her world to creativity in her art.
Artist World of Polarity into One
Kathy's work can be a dichotomy of two different styles between abstract and representative art or the gray areas of mixed art styles.
"I find art to not be so limited in what I can create as an artist, but that I can be free to paint as I am in the moment. Art to me is beingness. I am free to Be.”
