Silk Oil Threading
Kathy My Thi is a creator of this new art technique where oil painting is used to create silky texture seen in silk threads. With an eye for creating the illusion of silk thread, Kathy has finely formed the combination of bold highlighted lines yet subtle blended touch with shades of hues to "thread" oil into silk with impressionism. Threading oil is formed from many layers of back and forth lines until the silk texture comes to life like the touch of magic with the wand of the paintbrush. From her cultural background as a Vietnamese heritage where silk fabric is used as a staple of Vietnamese culture, silk threading art has influenced and paved her way into creating a new art form and introducing a creative approach to oil painting medium.
